As The Fairfax Arms continues to grow, we’re excited to expand our breakfast offering so that it is available not only to our overnight guests, but also to the wider community.
To support this, we’re looking for a talented and reliable Breakfast Chef to join our kitchen team.
The Fairfax Arms is an award winning AA Rosette 16th century coaching inn with 11 bedrooms, located in the beautiful village of Gilling East near Helmsley. Our kitchen is known for producing high quality, seasonal food and we are proud of the strong team culture that exists between our chefs and front of house staff.
This is a newly created role within our kitchen brigade, designed to support the growing demand for breakfast service and off site catering.
The successful candidate will have minimum level 1 food safety and hygiene, coupled to a keen aptitude to learn adapt and be flexible, serving traditional English cooked breakfast, preparing ingredients and batch cooking ahead of lunch service.
The role will run four days per week, from Wednesday to Saturday, starting at 8am and finishing around lunchtime, making it ideal for someone who enjoys cooking in a fast paced kitchen but also values having their afternoons free.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking traditional cooked breakfasts, preparing ingredients for the day ahead, and completing daily cleaning and kitchen preparation tasks set by the Head Chef.
We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking real food and takes pride in delivering great dishes for guests. The role would suit someone who works well both independently and as part of a team, and who brings a reliable and positive attitude to the kitchen.
This role is not live in, so applicants should be able to commute easily to Gilling East.
The position is for four days per week, approximately 16 hours in total. The hourly rate starts from £15 per hour, with gratuity share and pay reviewed after the standard three month probation period.
All facets of basic training will be given, from equipment use, hygiene standards and dish recipes / specifications.
